Al Hurt

With more than 44 years of experience in the financial services industry, Al Hurt gives Ballew Wealth Management clients a level of knowledge and expertise that few can match. 

Al came to Ballew Wealth Management in 1989 after successfully running his own pension company, Southern Pension Consultants. He served as president of Ballew Wealth Management from 2000 to 2004. 

Even after four decades in the business, Al continuously works to master what he calls the “lost art of listening.” Al believes in leaving his preconceived notions behind and simply paying attention to what the client really wants and needs.  

Al has focused the last few years of his career advising on Social Security, and he has a great understanding of the Social Security benefits election process and how to assist clients in reaching retirement goals.  He hosts a weekly radio talk show, “Unlocking the Secrets of Social Security” on WJNT AM on Wednesday mornings at 7:30. 

Al holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from Mississippi College, in addition to his CSA, CLU, ChFC, and RICP designations; he is a FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) arbitrator. Al has held administrative positions in numerous organizations including President of the Mississippi Chapter of the International Association of Financial Planners (IAFP) and President of the MS Baptist Convention Board of Ministerial Education.  

Al is an avid hunter, sports enthusiast and devout New York Yankees fan. He resides in Clinton, Mississippi with his wife Jane where they attend First Baptist Church. He has three children and ten grandchildren.
